Designed for seamless transitions between pelleting and filament production, this versatile setup ensures optimal resource utilization while minimizing operational interruptions.

The line features shared components, including a 16 mm single screw extruder, water bath/air conveyor, and center control systems, maximizing cost efficiency without compromising the quality of both pellets and plastic 3D filaments. Its compact layout guarantees efficient space utilization within your facility. Streamlined operation is achieved through easy switching between the water bath and air cooling conveyor, corresponding with either the pelletizer unit or winder unit, enabling quick adaptation to changing demands.

Our combination line excels in material compatibility, accommodating a wide range of materials with diverse properties. Whether producing pellets or 3D filaments, you can trust our commitment to delivering consistent results and superior performance.

Key Features:

Rapid and efficient conversion between pelletizing and 3D filament production

Minimal material consumption

Ease of installation

Low power consumption and small footprint

Space efficiency

Production versatility

Cost savings

Material compatibility

Simplified operation

Operating Process:

3D Filament Process:

When the 3D filament process is required, the single screw extruder is connected to a filament die with a precise hole diameter of 1.75 mm or 2.85 mm.

The melted filament strand exiting from the die is guided into a water bath with an adjustable temperature of up to 85°C, then the residual water on the filament surface is eliminated by an air wipe nozzle to ensure the filament is completely dry before passing through pull rolls and a strand guide, and finally being collected at the winder.

The air conveyor is designed with a swing mechanism, allowing it to be easily moved 90° from its current position to the backside. This adjustment creates additional space for operations focused on using only the water bath.

For hydrophilic (water-sensitive) materials, the air conveyor can be employed in place of a water bath, enhancing the cooling process efficiency by extending the cooling path.

Pelletizing Process:

When the demand switches to pelletizing extrusion, the single screw extruder is connected to the strand die, which has a hole diameter of 3 mm.

Depending on the material being processed, the water bath or an air conveyor belt is used: if the material is hydrophobic (repels water), the water bath is utilized, whereas if the material is hydrophilic (attracts water), the air conveyor belt, specifically designed with Teflon material and equipped with three fans to facilitate the cooling process, is used.

The melted filament strand exiting from the die is guided into a water bath with an adjustable temperature of up to 85°C. After the water bath, the residual water on the filament surface is eliminated by an air wipe nozzle.

The continuous strand is then cut into uniform 3-mm pellets using a high-speed pelletizer.

THE LINE FEATURES:

Mini design taking up a floor space of only 1.5 m x 0.7 m (5.0 x 2.3 ft) and a height of 1.2 m (4.0 ft) make it easy to fit into even the most crowded lab.

The Mini Extruder can process regular polymer pellets

The entire assembly is mounted on a sturdy steel subcabinet containing all major supply cables and electric components inside the subcabinet, giving a very clean appearance with very few visible connections to the extruder.

The mini single-screw extruder is mounted on an elevated base on top of the subcabinet

The die and the extruder are mounted individually on the same sliding rail, and the die can be separated from the extruder with a quick lock C-clamp. This enables easy removal of the extruder for cleaning and removing of the screw.

The roll is vertically adjustable so that the gap between the die and the roll can be adjusted to reduce the necking of the extruded melt from the die.

The rubber pressing roll of the chill roll has a handle that can be swung and securely locked into place away from or towards the roller. In the position where it presses against the chill roll, it serves to ensure that the film is tightly wrapped around the Chill Roll for optimum cooling efficiency. The pressure of this rubber pressing roll is adjustable with a spring-loaded screw

The film tensioning nip is opened with a handle, and the nip force is adjustable with a spring-loaded screw

The surface wind-up unit can hold a max film width of 125 mm, and it is equipped with an air expansion shaft holding a 3-inch bobbin

The chill roll, haul-off nip-roll, and wind-up device are driven by three individual AC servo motors

The line is equipped with a user-friendly 7-inch full central LCD touch screen unit controlling all functions like:

extruder temperature and RPM

die temperature

chill roll temperature and RPM

downstream nip-roll and wind-up RPM
