Description

The Notching Tool™ 628-A-4 / A-4E is Toyo Seiki’s advanced, computer-controlled solution for preparing high-quality notched specimens for impact testing. Designed to meet ISO and ASTM standards, it automates all operations except specimen mounting/dismounting, ensuring speed, consistency, and operator safety.

The A-4 version supports notching and specimen-end slicing, allowing users to process ISO multipurpose specimens and cut ends to standard dimensions. The A-4E model is dedicated to notching only for streamlined workflows. Both models feature a touchscreen interface, servo/stepper motor drive, and precision ball screws for 0.01 mm notch height adjustments.

With storage for up to 99 user-defined programs (16 for A-4E), the machine can recall and execute optimised cutting parameters for different materials. The A-4 allows adjustment of cutter speed (200–900 rpm) and table feed rate (50–1200 mm/min), while the A-4E uses a fixed synchronous motor speed.

Safety is built in with an interlocked safety cover, emergency stop, and optional dust tray enhancements. A wide range of notch cutters (including carbide, multi-teeth, and different radii) and slice cutters (standard, staggered, carbide) are available, plus accessories like double-notching holders, cooling devices, and precision gauges.

Compact (30 cm width) yet robust, the 628-A-4 / A-4E is ideal for quality control laboratories, research facilities, and materials testing centres handling plastics, composites, and other materials requiring precise notching.
